I got a promotion!!!
Hooray! I got a promotion this week. It will be TONS of hours and lots of hard work, but the opportunity is amazing. Here's the story:My boss, the sales and marketing manager, put in her notice the week I was gone for vacation. One of my co-workers, and really good friends with the owners, recommended me for the position. The owners were happy with my performance since I've been with the company (about 7 months) so they offered it to me! It's the same title but a slightly different capacity. Too much to go into unless you know my whole story, but I just wanted to brag on myself!
This leaves me really conflicted though... On Monday morning of last week, I emailed the contact for the UK MBA program that I was adament about getting into this year to talk to him about some questions and concerns. That very same day, I heard the news of my boss leaving and one of my other bosses mentioning they wanted to talk to me about a promotion. Rewind to last July- I got accepted into the MBA program the exact same time that I learned I had this opportunity with the company I work for now. Is some higher being trying to tell me that I'm not supposed to do the MBA right now, or is it a coincidence, luck, or crazy fate??? I am completely conflicted and would really appreciate any advice that someone would like to share!!!

Woohoo's!
OK, so I thought I would share my recent WooHoo's, really just trying to keep my motivation and everything up on low-carb.1. Lost 4 lbs. while on vacation! WooHoo!
2. For the first time in a couple of years, I saw a picture of myself and actually liked it! I didn't go "Oh my God, I can't believe I look like that" and then blame it on the camera angle. The picture is below (with my mom)
3. After seeing I lost another 4 lbs (for a total of 35) I went into my closet and pulled out my size 28 boot cut jeans from Lane Bryant. And they fit! Fairly comfortably! I'll probably wait another 10 lbs. or so to wear them in public, but wow that felt good!

Back from vacation...
*Sigh*So I finally made it home after 10 hours of driving while little 'sis slept. Hilton Head Island was nice, but the weather was crap the entire time. Lauren and I took our mom with us to Hilton Head, and it was interesting. Long story- here's the short version- mom has Parkinson's Disease and can't really do much for herself anymore, and we weren't used to having to take care of someone like that- so it ended up being pretty stressful all around. It was good to see her though, and I know she was happy to see us.
My list of things I need to buy keeps getting longer every day. I'm not talking about little things like toothpaste and TP, but big things. Here is my current list:
1. New luggage to replace the stuff I borrowed from someone. I don't know how it happened, but there is a small tear on the back of one of the suitcases. All I did with it was put it in the car, and on a luggage cart, and on top of a dresser, but still, I need to replace it for them.
2. A new monitor. View previous post for that fiasco. After I wrote that, the monitor went out yet again. I pronounced it dead.
3. A new dishwasher. Mine hasn't worked in like, 3 years, but now that I'm cooking so much more instead of just getting carry out or something, I need to get the dishwasher. Mine is beyond repair.
In spite of my long list of things I need, I bought a Coach purse while I was out of town. I always said I would buy a Kate Spade when I graduated from college and got my new job, but I haven't found any of hers that I like lately. I would have bought a Coach earlier, but I could never scrounge up enough money. And while I know that it is just a purse, when I bought it I felt a sense of accomplishment- like it's the end of my college journey or whatever. I know that sounds idiotic, but it felt good, so I don't care what it cost!

#@*%&@!!!!
So I had this incredibly revealing and witty post almost completely written and guess what happens? My monitor decides it doesn't want to work anymore. So after going to a friend's house to borrow her old monitor, I get back here, move the mouse, and low and behold- it works.Well, you'll just have to chuckle and imagine me being interesting because this is as good as it gets tonight folks!
Gone for a week on vacation- will be back next weekend! Have a good week! :)

2 pounds down, how many more to go?
I'm down 2 more pounds this week! Yea! I am so glad that I found the Low Carb Friends message boards. They definatley keep me motivated.Yesterday, I got caramel highlights. It was my first mini-goal reward! I broke down the total amount of weight I had to lose into 10 increments, and I met my first increment this week! I am 1/10 of the way to my ultimate goal! That makes it a little more managable to think about.

Trade show anxiety
I just want to let out a loud, audible, sigh of relief. This week is OVER! I spent Monday-Wednesday freaking out about a trade show that I had to go to in Louisville on Thursday and Friday. I furiously created flyers and brochures. People who know me realize this is a chore for me because I am so anal-retentive (or as Lisa calls it, "detail-oriented"). I realized on Tuesday that I was so worried about the trade show because of my weight. What fat person wants to stand up for 8 hours straight for 2 days in a row in dress shoes and a suit wondering who is talking about you or looking at you because of your weight. Then you wonder if people aren't coming to your booth because you're fat. It's awful what I put my mind through.Turns out, it wasn't so bad. Yes, my feet and ankles are very swollen, but overall, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be (go figure). On a positive note, my boss from Louisville who hadn't seen me in a month said she could really tell a difference- especially in my face. I might post pictures here eventually.
I'm thinking of starting the meat fast tomorrow. Might wait until Monday though b/c David's mom is taking us to Red Lobster Sunday.
I plan on sleeping a lot this weekend to make up for the lack of sleep I've had all week. I know I should exercise, but my swelling really needs to go down before I feel comfortable on my feet hopping around.
