Scarabeo Camp Photo Diary

On our recent trip to Marrakech, I really wanted to take some time to go out and stay overnight in the desert. While we didn’t have time to take the trip to the Sahara, Agafay desert is just a quick 45 minutes drive outside the city. I’ll be first to admit that I am a little high maintenance and didn’t want to ‘camp’, so instead I convinced my boyfriend to slum it at a luxury campsite. I did my research and opted to go for Scarabeo Camp and boy it did it deliver. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a luxury desert escape, from the camp design to the food and not to mention the surroundings everything just exceeded expectations.

In traditional Moroccan style we were welcomed with some mint tea and a selection of Moroccan treats.

Scarabeo Camp offers an array of different activities that will keep you occupied, I decided to hitch a ride with some desert locals.

Our tent came complete with board games, poufs and a fireplace (not pictured) to keeps us warm throughout the night.

As dusk set in we took a stroll around the nearby grounds, before finding a seat beside the fire listening to live music and waiting for dinner.

Dinner was in one of the main tents, since everything is lit by candle light my photos didn’t come up very well, however I can confirm that the dinner was amazing. We had the most amazing beef tajine, prepared by local women from the village nearby. It was definitely the best meal we had throughout our trip.

Morning views from our bed.

The breakfast spread the next morning was traditional Moroccan, which by the way is amazing. Waking up with a great breakfast, some coffee and those views I mean you just can’t go wrong!

The next day was spent exploring and enjoying the rest of our digital detox before heading back to Marrakech.
